Maximus FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

No hedging, no jargon. If your question isn’t here, ask it directly — it lands with Jeremy, not a queue.

01 · General
What is Maximus?

Maximus is the AI Chief of Staff inside Avori — a local-first Executive Operating System that helps people responsible for outcomes organize work, reduce cognitive tax, and stay ahead of their day.

It isn’t another chatbot. It becomes the place your work lives.

What does it actually do?

Every morning it helps answer one question: “What should I be paying attention to today?”

Throughout the day it remembers, organizes, connects, summarizes, captures, searches, and prepares — without constantly interrupting you.

What problem does it solve?

The modern workday is fragmented. Information lives everywhere. Attention is constantly interrupted.

People aren’t overwhelmed because they lack information. They’re overwhelmed because they have too much of it, spread across too many places. Maximus brings it together.

Can it organize my files?

Yes. Eventually it will understand your files, remember them, connect related information, and help you find things without remembering where you saved them.

Can Maximus read my email?

Only if you connect your email. If you do, Maximus can summarize your inbox, check Spam and Junk folders, identify important messages, and remind you about follow-ups.

It never reads accounts you haven’t authorized.

Who is Maximus built for?

People responsible for outcomes. That includes founders, executives, students, consultants, contractors, brokers, sales professionals, creators, project managers, and freelancers.

If you’re responsible for getting something done, Maximus is built for you.

Can students use it?

Absolutely. Anyone responsible for outcomes can use Maximus. Students are one of the first communities we expect to embrace it.

Why should I care?

Because every day you pay a cognitive tax. You hunt for emails. You search for files. You switch between apps. You forget things. You lose context.

Maximus removes that tax so you can spend your time making decisions instead of finding information. Read the full case →

02 · Product Philosophy
Does it replace Slack? Gmail? My calendar? Office?

No. No. No. And no.

It works with Slack. It works with Gmail. It works with your calendar. It works alongside Microsoft Office. Your tools still exist — Maximus becomes the front door to all of them.

So what DOES it replace?

It replaces cognitive tax.

Instead of opening ten applications every morning… you open one.

What makes Maximus different?

Most AI helps you answer questions. Maximus helps you run your day.

How does it compare to the AI I already use?

ChatGPT answers questions. Maximus understands your work.

Claude writes beautifully. Maximus remembers your business.

Copilot works inside Microsoft. Maximus works across your entire day.

Perplexity finds information. Maximus knows what matters to you.

Grok is an AI assistant. Maximus is your Chief of Staff, inside your Executive Operating System.

Why can’t I just build this myself?

Most people could assemble pieces. Very few people will spend years designing: Relationship Memory, Capture, the Executive Brief, conversation behavior, privacy architecture, local AI, workflow intelligence, and executive UX.

That’s what you’re buying.

03 · AI Models
Is it ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT is one of many intelligence engines Maximus can use. Avori is the operating system that manages your work — and Maximus runs it with you.

Does it replace ChatGPT?

No. Many people will continue using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, or Perplexity. Maximus coordinates them.

Think of those models as specialists. Maximus is your Chief of Staff.

Which AI models does it support?

Initially: OpenAI, Anthropic, and local models through Ollama.

Over time: Google Gemini, xAI Grok, and other providers as they become useful.

The user decides which models they want to use.

Do I have to pay for all those subscriptions?

No. If you already subscribe to ChatGPT or Claude, Maximus can use those APIs where appropriate. If you don’t, Maximus can run local models for many tasks.

Our goal is to minimize the number of subscriptions users need — not increase them.

04 · Privacy
Is my information private?

Privacy is one of our core promises. By default: your data stays on your computer. Margin Max cannot see it. OpenAI cannot see it unless you explicitly send something to OpenAI. Anthropic cannot see it unless you explicitly use Claude.

You remain in control.

Does Margin Max collect my data?

Not by default. We intentionally designed Maximus so your work belongs to you.

Later, users may choose to anonymously share usage statistics in exchange for discounts or early access to new features. Participation is optional.

Does it use the cloud?

It can. It doesn’t have to. You decide.

Can I run it completely offline?

For many functions, yes. Cloud AI obviously requires an internet connection. Local AI does not.

05 · Security
Is it safe?

Safety and trust are company principles. Local-first architecture dramatically reduces privacy risk, because your information remains under your control.

Can it damage my computer?

No. Like any software, bugs are possible. But Maximus doesn’t modify your operating system or delete files without your permission.

06 · Installation
How do I install it?

Eventually: Download. Install. Sign in. Choose your preferred AI providers. Start working.

Our goal is to make installation feel like installing any modern desktop application. Today, Avori is delivered as a commissioned deployment — it starts with an Executive Review, not a download link.

Is it hard to learn?

No. We are deliberately reducing complexity. If you can use email, you can use Maximus.
